Parkmerced

in apartments

I’ve been digging around the Bay Area looking for a new apartment, and we continue to see the marketing ads for Parkmerced, so it was worth doing an online search.

Aside Apartment Ratings scathing review, one of the old tenants kept a detailed blog of his events at the location. This seems to be a large corporation, inflexible and unable to provide the home environment a quiet professional like myself would need… whoever wrote that blog, thank you for the log, you’ve cost them a potential renter.

My husband and I just visited Parkmerced yesterday to take a look at what they had to offer. Their apartments are actually really nice (both the townhomes and the towers — personally we fell in love with a tower apartment), but then I go to apartmentratings.com after we get home and I find such bad reviews, so we are torn as to what to do! I read the blog you are referring to, which is how I found your page. At the moment we are still researching other apartments and will be visiting them soon (as they are much cheaper then Parkmerced). I appreciate everyones opinion on them and it will definitely place a factor in what we decide to do when it comes to signing a lease some where.

    Thank you!

I felt the same way regarding archstone apartments; they all received such horrible reviews on apartmentratings.com, and yet I found them to be rather nice and just paid for a lease in the SOMA one (the San Bruno and Walnut Creek ones we looked at were beautiful as well, but wanted to stay in the city). I’m beginning to think those apartmentratings.com can be a forum for complainers most of the time. In the sites defense, I hear they were spot on regarding the building center ‘the Fillmore’ which has received quite a bit of complaints.

Though regarding Parkmerced, I just found a co-worker who lived there and said she didn’t mind it… her only gripe was the college parties and loud neighbors she had. When she mentioned it to management, they seemed to be slow on the responsive side, and she decided not to renew her lease, but otherwise relaxing and uneventful. I hope you find the apartment you’re looking for - if you have questions about other places, my girlfriend and I have gone through most of the city and happy to provide notes:)

Thank you for getting back to me! Like I was telling my husband, everyone seems to have their own opinion about everything. Even though all those people didn’t like it, we might.

What other apartments did you check out?

The next one on our list is Westlake Village Apartments in Daly City. We are trying to compile a list, but we have a budget and it’s hard to find a place in our rent range, which is about $1500-1700/month for a 1 bedroom.
