Bently Holding’s HR Department, managed by Erin Taylor, has started an initiative to offer free tickets to services and events throughout the Bay Area. Touted as both an employee appreciation, and an internal branding exercise, Erin needed a way to advertise new options and manage the incoming flow of requests.

As a result, the app allows for HR to add new Events with event specific details, including a ticket count and the maximum amount of reservations per employee. Employees login via ldap, and click on the appropriate Event for the ability to reserve up to the maximum amount of tickets. If an employee can request up to 4 tickets, they’re presented with a drop down reservation of 1 to 4, and the tickets automatically reflect the request in the available count. For special Raffles, requests are taken on a set time period, and randomly chosen within the application at a specified date per HR.

Aside from the technical requirements, I had full range for the design. Since the breadth of tickets will range from music events, to local theatre shows, to movie tickets; I designed a classic theatre poster layout in a web standards environment. Foregoing flash, the modern design uses various transparent layers of shading to create a realistic effect of the posters, and animates lights on hover.
